ABS Moves Mission Critical Application to New Host Site, Signs Long-term Agreement with Savvis
November 22, 2004
Rolling Meadows, IL – ABS Associates is pleased to announce that its premier ABShelp™ application is now being hosted at the Savvis Communications Internet Data Center located in Elk Grove, Illinois near ABS headquarters. The Center is a massive, impregnable concrete and steel building covering a city block. It contains Department of Defense (DOD) level security, air conditioning, power, fire suppression, and multiple, redundant switches, network paths, and 24/7 technical support. ABS shares this facility with many prestigious companies, such as Microsoft, SUN, Merrill Lynch, Ebay, Yahoo and Google.
In a four-month conversion effort ABS began the first phase by upgrading to Windows 2000 Cluster and adding further redundant firewalls, routers, disk and tape storage as well as bonded, private T1's from Rolling Meadows. Internet access is burstable up to 100mbs.
After weeks of testing, including the transition of modules to production in Rolling Meadows, the ABS team successfully moved the equipment in the early hours of a Saturday morning. By 8 am ABShelp was up and running at the new site. Due to the months of detailed planning and preparation by the project team, the operation was flawless.
"We are well positioned now to acquire additional high volume, 24/7 accounts," states Rosemarie Mitchell, CEO of ABS Associates. With multiple backup and redundant features the ABShelp infrastructure is solid and secure, capably serving ABS and its clients for years to come.
